uh huh, them.
so inspired by this documentary. when i was younger, i just wanted to be a part of magazines. as a writer, editor, art director, creative director, advertising director - i didn’t care, just get me in the door.
nowadays, i’m a bit polarized due to the decline of print publications, but it’s still in there. that passion to create something pretty & glossy that tells a story. that gets put on someone’s fancy coffee table or grabbed up at a dingy newsstand on the way home.
seeing grace coddington at work (though only in glimpses) reminds me of why i love to direct photo shoots. seeing anna wintour lay down the law made me reconsider my love/hate relationship with being a CEO. and the colors, models, travel, mockups, whizzing of the printer… it stoked my fire for creativity beyond digital media.
so yeah. watch it, rent it, netflix it. it’s not an over-the-top documentary, so forgive me if i’m hyping it up. but if the words “mockup” or “textures” get you excited, go for it :) if anything, it’s a lower-drama, realist version of “devil wears prada.”

Buck came out the other day. How many girls can say they’ve walked in on their mom peeing while standing up?
